Welcome to my odd little interwebz project! In the simplest terms, these are my “blogs” and for some reason I feel that I need to sell them to you, the potential reader, as something worthy of your attention. Yet I find that soliciting my thoughts out as some sort of marketing ploy goes against my nature, therefore I will simply tell you of the various contents of each blog and you can decide for yourself if you care to read further. I hope you do…I think my thoughts are pretty cool…
They are categorized thusly: to your left wearing the pink sunglasses, is the online chronicle of my trip through Europe in 2007. I took part in a month long Field Study in Eastern Europe where we visited the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, and Poland. We studied the Romani people (or Gypsies) of Slovakia, the recovery from the civil war in Bosnia (as well as the continuing cultural tensions), and also the westernization of Eastern Europe in general. My friend and I also spent 16 days in Western Europe, in an attempt to counter the wonderful cheapness in the East by emptying our savings as fast as possible. Venice, Florence, Rome, Paris, London, Home! Heh…that was our little rhyme we made to--…never mind. We know we’re geeks, no need to elaborate on the matter…
To your right in the lovely turquoise sunnies are the communiqué’s from my travels in Southeast Asia in 2008. The same professor who runs the Europe Field Study also created a field study to the Philippines. This was the first year our teacher had organized this particular field study, and we studied various settlements of hunter gatherers called Ati in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. As with Europe, a few friends and I also traveled before and after the field study, to Hong Kong, Cambodia, and Thailand! Muchos fun…and muchos sweat. So effing hot over there!
Right down in front, impossible to miss in lime green shades, are my ramblings about various topics, all of which will prove to be interesting at the very least and most likely entertaining to some degree. As I am no longer traveling, this is where most of my updates will be taking place, so if you like what you see the first time around, keep checking back!
P.S. As these are in Blog format, the posts on my travel blogs will be posted beginning with the most recent entry. If you’d like to start at the beginning go to the end of the last page.
